Across California’s Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), homes face increasing wildfire threats — even those built to modern defensible space and roofing standards. Many homeowners are learning that traditional insurance, including the California FAIR Plan, offers limited protection, capping coverage at $3 million and leaving a major recovery gap for high-value properties. FireRoofs was founded to close that gap — not with more insurance, but through prevention and active defense.

We design and install automated wildfire defense systems that activate before, during, and after a wildfire event. Our systems integrate roof and eave sprinklers to protect ignition points, perimeter sprinklers and foam suppression to defend property zones, and AI-powered detection with real-time monitoring for instant activation. Controlled through the FireRoofs App with backup satellite connectivity, each system is custom-engineered to the home’s architecture and landscape, blending seamlessly with design while delivering municipal-grade reliability.

Shawn Gardner

Co-Founder & Director of Wildfire Systems and Operations

Shawn Gardner brings over two decades of experience in irrigation design, arboriculture, construction management, and municipal public works to FireRoofs.
As Co-Founder, he leads system design, operations, and automation strategy, ensuring every installation meets the highest performance and reliability standards.

Before launching FireRoofs, Shawn served as Parks Manager for the City of Saratoga, overseeing large-scale landscape rehabilitation, fire-fuel reduction, and infrastructure projects across the community.
His leadership combines technical precision with an unwavering focus on innovation and homeowner safety.

Walt Mullins

Co-Founder & Director of Construction and Field Operations

With over 30 years of experience as a licensed California General Contractor and President of Mullins Construction Inc., Walt has built a reputation for craftsmanship, integrity, and excellence.
As Co-Founder of FireRoofs, he oversees all construction integration and field operations — ensuring each system is installed with precision, durability, and respect for the home’s design.

Walt’s deep background in custom homebuilding and system integration brings unmatched quality and reliability to every FireRoofs project.
He leads field teams and contractor partnerships with the same standards that have defined his decades-long career in high-end construction.

Automated Activation: Our systems use AI Wildfire Detection and smart controllers to activate automatically when a threat is detected. This 24/7 readiness provides critical defense even when you are not home.
Targeted Ember Defense: We create a "moisture barrier" on your home's most vulnerable surfaces—the roof, eaves, and surrounding perimeter. This prevents the fire-starting embers that are responsible for the majority of home losses in the WUI.
Multi-Layered Protection: Our integrated approach combines rooftop sprinklers, perimeter sprays, and the application of Class A fire-retardant foam to provide a comprehensive shield against radiant heat and ignition.
